Default What are your experiences with -1 + 2 gearing?

I just got RRoXXanne (my 954) back from the dealership today. I had a gold D.I.D. 530 chain and 15/45 sprockets installed. My reason for the mods is I love to wheelie her. I took it easy for the first 100 miles. The first noticeable change was the acceleration. Had to shift out of first sooner than normal. 3rd gear felt like 2nd, and 2nd felt like 1st. The speedo is off by 13mph. (ordered speedohealer) NOW, once I felt the chain was properly seated and broken in, I eased my way into a 1st gear clutch up...She came up really quickly, so I decided to try it without the clutch. It took very little roll on from the throttle and she reached for and kissed the sky! lol 2nd gear clutch ups are getting easier. I do not do stand ups as I'm not on that level yet, however I can hold her just below balance point in 2nd and ride her out. While crusing at 70-80 mph, my rpm's were around 4 grand, now they're around 6...which is ok b/c I love the way the exhaust sounds. My sprocket kit was $280 with $102 in labor...best $ I've spent on her thus far...Anyone with -1 + 2 or similar gearing, please let me know your experiences...

same set up here, actually liked the stock setup for doin wheelies. 1st is way to choppy wit -1 +2. stand ups were alot more comfy for me because u have a better vision imo. practice and keep practicing if u wanna learn stand ups. i never was a "parkin lot" stunter and never had mine set up for just that but i can tell u it can get expensive spendin alot of time on one wheel

I just did a -1 front, same rear, new chain, and love the change. Definitely need to invest in a Speedohealer though. It bothers me to know how far off the speedometer is.

I agree Pimpn...1st gear wheelies are really choppy now, so I'm focusing more on 2nd. I practice in a secluded area without any traffic, so I will give stand-ups a try pretty soon. Gotta take baby steps...be safe yall

I dont know about the whole wheelie thing. But on the "TRACK" it takes longer for mine to get up to top speed and the top speed dropped. I forgot by how much but i think it was like 7-10mph
