Near Death Experiences
Just thought it would be interesting to hear about some close calls people have had in the past. I'm sure some may have had more then others (military), so post them up. I always find this stuff interesting, and amazing what the human body can withstand. I'll start out with one.
About 5 years ago an F3 Tornado destroyed our house. Now keep in mind I live in Northern PA, right along the NY border so a tornado is the last thing you would expect. I was only able to make it to the basement doorway before the tornado hit, and I started to get tossed around. I don't actually remember seeing anything, but do remember being rolled around and dirt going in my eyes and mouth. Next thing I knew i woke up laying on top of our one wall in the basement in the rain. The only thing that happened to me was I had a puncture wound in my leg, severe laceration on my back (with some scars left), and a nail sticking out of my shoulder. Luckily that is the only one I have had so far, and hope to keep it that way.
What use to be a two story house

Damn that must have been intense! We had a tornado come right through work about 8 years ago and totalled 6 cars in the employee parking lot but nothing like an f3. I used to ride an f3...anyways...near death experiences? Had my old 79 pickup hanging halfway off a 30 foot cliff when I was a kid. Powerbraked the crap out of it and it came back up.

Geez, Red and they say bikes are dangerous !!
I'm not coming anywhere near the US in twister season.
We get them here, but not as intense........
I have had a couple of 'big frights' on my old 1000F, once when I was chasing a pair of Ducatis through the countryside, we came upon a herd of horses - yup 5 went left, but one ran right - straight in front of me !
It then slipped on the tar, and landed on its butt.
Talk about panic braking...........
Missed the damned nag by a couple of feet, rode slowly next to it to see it was OK.
Decided that was enough excitement, and we parted company. Two smokes and 3 coffees later, I was better.[X(]

88 escort gt, going home at about 2am thanksgiving morning. 4 lane highway speed limit 65, going about 75. 76 lincoln 4 door battle tank at a cross road came to a stop, then as i approached pulled out. Slammed his side at full speed. I have no idea how i am here to be honest, and neither did the paramedecs. Of course the guy blew a 3.7 or something, it was only his 5th offense, no biggie.

RE: Near Death Experiences
I would mention one or two from when I was a kid, but I think they would be lost on most people, or considered politically insensitive.
Semi more recent, drive by shooting while at a Sonic in high school while in the US, one dead a few injured (no one that I was with, just some rando bangers). Pretty crazy to see happen.
Don't know if this counts, but had a severe allergic reaction and had my airway close. Had to be rushed to the hosp.

RE: Near Death Experiences
I haven't had too many.... nothing like Reds tornado story. But a couple possibilities I guess....
- I had double pneumonia (both lungs instead of just one) when I was 3 months old. Of course I was too young to remember, but from what my parents said I was in pretty bad shape, and a nice shade of blue [&:] In the hospital for 9 days
-On August28, 1990,I (and my mom, sister, and grandma) missed the F5 tornado that rolled through Plainfield, Illinois by about 5-10 minutes. I was8 years old but still remember it perfectly. My mom, sister, grandma, and I drove into Plainfield to go to the red fox grocery store. I waited in the truck while the others went inside (it was a small town at the time, you could do stuff like that). I was sitting there for 10 mins or so in the truck, and the sky started to get dark..... I mean REALLY dark. I was starting to get kinda scared and was about to go into the store to get my mom, but then saw them walking out of the store. We leave and head back to the house, and about 10 mins later as we're driving home, and out of nowhere we felt this huge gust of wind on the truck, just like a crosswind but then went away. Got home and the phone was ringing when we walked in.... it was my aunt up in Waukegan (north of Chicago)... she was freaking out... "oh my god are you guys OK??". My mom was like..."uhh yea, why?". Then she told us that an F5 tornado just went through plainfield. "Holy s**t!!". After a couple days and everything settled down, we drove back through there.... red fox grocery store... GONE! Tornado had gone right over where we had just been probably less than 10 minutes prior. Had we stayed there any longer than we did, none of us would probably be here today.
- Not too exciting, but when I went down on the highway back on August 6, 2005, I went sliding down the highway and tumbled around in the right lane, then onto the shoulder, and slid underneath a flatbed towtruck that was sitting stopped on the shoulder. I stopped right before my head hit the rear differential of the truck
That's about if for me... nothing too bad. Now if you want to hear one hell of a "miracle to be alive" story, you gotta talk to my buddy Bill down in south Florida. He's been riding for a long time, but back in 2000 he was in a head on collision, on his bike, with a car. Kid in the car was busy getting a ******* from his GF Bill was in the hospital for, I think 6 months if I remember right, and his hospital bills totalled $1.2 million (thank god for insurance... they covered it all). You see him today, and you'd never even know anything happened.Only damage that remains is his arm that he can't hold out straight (elbow won't bend that far).... I had never even noticed it until he mentioned it
