I used Klean Strip Stripper. It comes in a bronze colored can and you pour it into a bowl. It's thick like honey and you paint it on with an acid brush. I taped the area in the center of the rim, but not up the spokes or anything like that. If I were using the Aircraft Stripper that's a spray I would reccomend taping everything up. If you look at mine there is about a 1" area that is not stripped on my wheels. I haven't started the polishing part yet, and yes the process was a pain in the a$$. I had to apply the stripper wait 15 minutes or so then I used a #3 steel wool to remove the paint that bubbled up. After some scrubbing with soap, water, and the #3 pad, I would reapply the stripper to those stubborn parts and do the process again. After I did that 2-3 times depending on how lazy I was, I would then use the #3 pad and a lot of elbow grease on the remaining areas. You can see in the picture below what it looked like after the stripper and about half way done with the scrubbing from the steel wool. You can see how I left the center alone.
