Default slip on question

I just mounted a new yoshimura slip on. Whae I took off my old pipi there is a cone shape with holes in it. Did anybody cut that off whem mounting thier pipe? It looks like it would restrict the exhaust flow.

i cut mine off when i mounted my akrapovich bolt on exhaust i did notice a slight increase of noise at idle, had no ill effects, bike ran the same, i dont think you wil gain any more hp though.i did cut it with a hack saw. it cuts pretty easy.

on some slip ons you do have to cut it off in order for it to fit.It is basically to keep the noise level down.
