3 months, no biggie, fire it up. As far as routine maintianace, i would do oil change if needed, clean, lube, and adjust chain, check tire pressure. If you are so inclined, if the plugs have never been done, that would bea good idea, also maybe run some seafoam thru her, oh and maybe bleed the brakes if he hasnt done that in a while.

While the tank is off you should do the plugs, Trust me its alot easier with the tank completely removed than propped up. I went 25K on the same plugs but in your situation the tank is off so do it now. 3 months is nothing just as long as you let the bike get to operating temp and you take it easy for a few feet. TK covered it pretty much, Just do a complete walk threw of the bike checking all the fluids and inspecting everything.

I say since you have the tank off, make sure you just drain what ever fuel that was in there and put in some fresh gas. I know here in Cali the fuel is really crappy and doesn't last long at all during storage. I would also do the plugs, they are recommended at 16000 miles and since you just have to remove the air box, why not since it would be so easy right now. I say maybe even do a quicky oil change without a filter, just get some fresh oil in there get it nice and hot and then do a real oil change with good quality oil. But having it sit for only 3 months you don't have to worry about much. Now if it was 3 years then you'd be in trouble. Well good luck on the bike
