Hi All,
Been away from riding for a while and always regretted selling my last bike - a Black/Orange/Purple1993 CBR900, so when this came along for the right price, I couldn't help myself :-)
I picked up a 2003, 954 with 42,000k on the clock. It has Chinese Repsol fairings which will need some tweaking to get fitting right but overall pretty happy with the purchase. Hasn't been messed with at all mechanically, still has pair and Ex. valve intact, haven't checked inside airbox yet. No CCT noise (still has original tensioner). It has a nice sounding Micron Slip-on can and someone has added a carbon hugger. The riders seat needs recovering and it needs a new rear but that is minor stuff.
Only thing I have just noticed - when left overnight - Blue coolant (couple of drops on garage floor), or even a few hours, there is a very small seep of coolant present on the lower edge of the coolant pump.
I got in there with a mirror and had a look and it's not coming from the seep hole and does not appear to be coming from the coolant drain bolt, but there is moisture in the small recess along the bottom sealing edge of the pump but on second inspection, looks like it may be coming from up higher - a hose fitting maybe, so have tightened hose clamps and will recheck tomoz -
Hi Al & Doc,
Thx for the welcome :-)
I'm located on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, not far from the famous wine region of McLaren Vale.
Pic number 2 is a place called Port Willunga.
@AudiTT Welcome to the forum. Nice looking ride for sure. For the coolant leak, the pumps usually have a weep hole so that you know when the seal is giving out. If its only a few drops you could possibly delay replacing.
Welcome to the forum AudiTT, great intro and love the pics, where do you come from?
As you it looks pretty good, just a few cosmetics to sort.

Thanks guys,
Leak sorted - nothing from the weep hole - the leak was coming from one of the hoses at the top of the coolant pump (the inner one) and I had just enough room to get an 8mm ring spanner onto the hose clamp screw. Pleased that it was such a simple fix.

I have found that short of the birth of your own children, there isn't much that gives a better feeling than that! 😂
Glad it turned out to be something simple. Lord knows we get enough of the ones that aren't. Now enjoy the riding.. well after you get that seat sorted out... lol.
Quick update - Had the bike serviced and new tyre on the rear.
Found an auto trimmer locally that will re-upholster the seats in Repsol colors for me - that should be done in next few weeks.
Went to a local 'Bike ride night / Show n Shine' and the bike was photographed by a professional who posted this pic....just wish I had had the seats done....oh well...next time....Really happy with the pic though :-)
