Default new CCT problem

So i went to install my new cct today and had never done it. I couldnt figure out what the pin in the end was for but soon found out. i was trying to figure out how to make it work and pulled the pin before i installed it(stupid i know). Am i going to have to buy a new tensioner cause i cant get back in or in the hole? Just hoping i didnt waste a lot of money.

Put it in a vise and slowly crank it back down, then put the pin back in.

So i just got it in and started it up and im still getting the same noise. The only thing i can think of that could be wrong is i put the pink dot on the underside. Other than that i guess the cct wasnt the problem. Its coming from the cam chain side and it sounds like a bunch of bb's rattling around(i figured chain slap). Any ideas or common problems?

Perhaps you are paying too much attention to little noises rather than your riding.. SEARCH the forum, you'll find that the 954 is a bit of a "rock crusher" when it comes to engine noises. Mine sounds bad on the low end, but get in the top 2/3 and she purrs nicely!

Well considering this is a NEW noise im kinda worried about it. Id rather be safe than sorry and not damage anything. And i have been taking short rides on it around town but im afraid to take it out and push it too hard before im sure shes alright.

Hey man,

I have the same problem... I had a hell of atime getting mine in and the same thing... Mine sounds the exact same as urs... Just after I got my new one in it sounded great; however, once I got on it the sound cam back... The only other time it has subsided is right after I did an oil change, but it did come back... I just put a post to see if anyone has used Lucas oil in a 954 cause it did wonders for my cars... Well good luck and if you find out what it is let us know... The best thing I did is putthe ear budin my right ear and ride out to music, makes the noise vanish... Good luck

You would have to check out the bottle carefully, it may not work with our clutches.
