Default Manual Cam Chain Tensioner

I just got my APE cam chain tension er and installed I just don't' know what is good tension. I adjusted it until the rattling went away but went riding for a while and some rattling came back I just don't want to make it too tight. I have heard people say something about a whining I don't know what to listen for and don't want to mess anything. Any help would be appreciated

loosen that nut all the way up. twist the screw by hand until you feel it hit the guide (that will be your first sign of resistance on the scew), then back off 1/4 turn. lock the nut.

I've heard a lot of people tighten the bolt until they hit the guide then they turn on the bike and SLOWLY turn the bolt in till the rattling goes away, then they rev up the bike to make sure its not there in higher rpms....just my 2 cents from what ive looked up because i will be putting a manual cctl in my bike soon also
