Lookin at gettin one
im looking at getting a 954. is there anything i should check for specefic to the bike for known problems? LIke for the f3 i know to check for the cam tensioner, common problem, for my old cb, when im looking for spare motors i know to check for valve clearence related issues and charging issues. i have looked at plenty a used bike so i know what in general to look for, but if there is anythign specefic that goes wrong with this bike frequently, i woul dappreciate a heads up, thanks guys
fuel pressure regulator. all you have to do is turn the ignition on, and listen. you should hear the bike prime for 2-3 seconds and then it should turn off. if it doesn't stop priming after that time, the FPR is on it's way out.
Just check the normal stuff and ask lots of questions. Ask for maintenance records. Stator and rectifier are known problems. These bikes tend to get stunted so make sure frame is good. Look for any crash damage around motor mounts where frame sliders or crash cages would be mounted. Check fork seals from wheelies and transmission. Second gear is easy to mess up with alot of clutch up wheelies. Also check radiator/mounts (they bend very easy even with low speed crashes) as this can be an indicator the bike has been wrecked and new plastics installed. These bikes should start and run very smooth if not find out why before you purchase the bike.
