Fan Problem?
Hey Guys, Im brand new to the forum and thought I would throw my problem out there to see what you guys think. I have an 02' 954rr and all of a sudden the fan stopped working. Needless to say my temp gets to 240-250 when Im not cruising over a constant 45 mph. I wanted to know what you guys think. What should I check first. I'm not even sure there is a fan sensor or fuse or??? Maybe the fan failed...I was just hoping you guys could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

If you bypass the fan switch(sensor) which is located on the radi...if bypass and fan works, then your sensor switch is bad...Just find ways to bring power to the fan and see if it works?? If fan works, then it's the sensor...$25 bucks. I actually purchase one online for $22....

The sensor turns on the fan by completing a ground to the chassis. So the wire to it
should be 'hot'. To by-pass the sensor, you just have to ground that wire.
The easy way, a short piece of solid conductor wire with both ends stripped. You'll
use it as a jumper.
Take the connector off the sensor and connect it to a ground spot with the short piece
of wire. I clip the wire into the harness connector, grab the the other bare end
with a pair of needle nose and touch the tips of the pliers to the side of the engine.
Once you've done that, reach up turn on the ignition and see if the fan starts.
If it starts, the fan is good. If it doesn't start, the sensor is bad.
Just be sure you have the correct wire.
The sensor is on the fan side of the radiator, (up kinda high on the f3, not sure the 954).
There are a couple of wires coming out, one goes to the fan, the other to the sensor.
If, I'm remembering correctly.
Hope this helps. Ern
