engine ticking sound
I have a 2002 cbr954rr with 2500 miles below 4000rpm the engine makes a ticking sound like maybe the timing chain or valve. My question is has anybody had the cam chain adjusted or valves adjusted. If so did it cost very much to have done. I bought this bike 6 months ago from the original owner it had 800 miles and he babied the bike. This bike has never been abused in anyway and has never seen red line. The bike runs perfect so I do not believe it is anything major it is just annoying.
is it a minor ticking? ive been told that its rare for cbr's to need a valve adjustment (p.o.s. gsxrs, zx, yzf!) andhighly highly doubt its the cam chain tensioner i got slight tickin but is nothin and seems common if u ask me cuz i havent had one problem and im 22,000 miles strong!
Yes it is minor that is why I thought it could be the timing chain needs adjusting or valves.I had an xr that rattled and whenI adjusted the timing chain it went away. I was reding through the manual and I cannot figure out how to adjust the timimg chain.
I have a ticking sound too. Took it to my mechanic ad asked him to check my valves and cam cahin. He said all were good. He said its probably coming from the exhaust manifold/valve or some **** like that. 12,000 miles
trust me youll know if it is ur cam chain cuz the tickin is not minor it actually sounds like crap. also you cant adjust the factory cam chain tensioner because its not a manual set up. if you want a manual setup u can get it well under $100 but as of know im 99% sure you'd be wasting your money replacing it or takin the bike to the shop to get checked out.
my bike and my friends 954 do the same...supposely the headers and all are thin on them so you will here the ticking and all unlike some other bikes...i think its normal...it took me awhile to get used to it
