Hey guys. I took the bike out for a good ride on the weekend with a couple buddies. We put around 600 KM on the bikes. My problem now is that when I'm coasting in 4th and 5th I hear a ticking noise when I'm above 4000 RPM. I'm not sure what the hell it is.

I know it's not my CCT because I just replaced that and its not the same sound. It doesn't happen when I'm accelerating or at a constant speed, it's only when I let off the throttle completely and am coasting. the Ticking noise only ticks about once a second or so. Any ideas?

 

Does it do it when stopped? Check different rpm's. Might be chatty valves.

 

It doesn't make the noise when stopped and it happens usually above 4000 RPM but i did notice it at a lower RPM once on the ride home tonight.

 

My bike is always making some sort of tick. Get used to it. As long as you're straight on routine maintenance, don't worry about it.

 

I had that problem. It was my keychain hitting the triple tree. LOL

 

hahaha I know its not my key chain since I don't have one.

Called the local Honda shop this morning. Apparently there is a major service that needs to be done at 25,000 KM. The guy told me (just like you rangerscott) that the noise is most likely my valves needing adjustment, part of which is covered by this service. Then he tells me the service is gona run me CND $350.
