This technique will reduce the likelihood of a lowside. Throttle control and gear selection/clutch all work hand in hand when trying to stay upright on 2 wheels. Engine compression can be your best friend or last nights Hooker that you cant get rid of.............

If you still dont catch ^ Iron's drift he is using "engine brake"

+1 always fun to do in a car when your coming to a stop, esp. when the people behind you are tailgating and looking for brake lights.. haha... but I will say I engine brake alot during casual street riding... bad on the bike?

Hell No! I have been a throttle blipper my whole life! My first CBR. (Hurricane) was my race bike as well as daily commuter. Sold it with over 50k on the Odometer. I ran that bike hard. Especially on the track! Been other bikes after as well. All run in the same manner. The 954 is sitting on 30k. Its still running like a champ! Track days and constantly bouncing my Tach needle off the Rev. Limiter is what worries me.........

I engine brake a lot while riding and when I was learning to be a mechanic that question came up...answer... Your transmission is stoner and more durable than your brake pads. So its normal and acceptable to engine brake and will help increase the longevity of your brakes
