520 chain conversion question ?
Yea i got it for the weight savings, and cause i could get it in red
. I still have my doubts that the little bit of weight you save is even noticable to us novice riders though.
I will also add though, if your going to go with a 520 setup, maintanence is very important. Especially with some of the cheaper brands, if you dont keep it clean and adjusted properly, you will chew it up fast.

For starters, I ment that I have a Vortex rear sprocket not a Vortec...sorry my bad. My question now is for TK954RR. What brand is your front sprocket? It would save me alot of time and money if I could findone that fit properly.
Melville, I have a 520 conversation w/ Vortex on the rear and front. I don't understand why you didn't just buy a Vortex for the front as well. Mine fits perfect with no washers or problems or any kind.
Actually, I did this conversion back in 2006.It all started when I saw a picture of a Vortex sprocket. Had to have it. At the time {winter of 2006}Vortex only made a+3 rear sprocket in a 520. The bike shop I was ordering from told me that Vortex didn't make a front sprocket for the 954. So..I ordered the Sunstar front. Now here I am 2 years later looking for a winter project and I am finally fed up with the annoying sound from the drivetrain. So if what you say is true I will also check out Vortex's line up again. I'll be sure to use another source this time to order my parts. I'm starting to think the parts counter guy at my local dealer ship may have been alittle lazy. And shame on me for not looking further into this before. Thank you all again for your imput.
Melville, this the exact site I ordered my whole set-up from. They shipped it quick too.
