2nd gear difficulties

shift drum is usually not the culprit. neither is the shift fork. the common culprit of a gear kicking back is rounded dogs from clutchless shifting from first to second and second to third. i went through it with my f4i, it requires new gears which DOES require the motor to be removed and the case split.

I was going to say the same thing. I was having problems with shifting into 2nd gear until I adjusted the shift pedal. I lowered it just slightly and have yet to have a problem.
