Ticking??Is this common?
I have 9400 miles on my 929. It's starting to make some pretty good ticking. I'm thinking valves, but I see a lot of no need to check until over 17k miles posts on here. Are 929's inherently noisy bikes? I've only had the bike for about 1 month. I changed the oil thinking and hoping it was just old oil, no die.

What is the CCT? The tick varies with the revs of the engine. Most noticable between 3-4000 rpm. After 4k I don't notice it as much, but it could also be the wind hitting my helmet that drowns out the tick.
Any idea of the specs for the valve clearances??

CCT = Cam Chain Tensioner
Yes mine doing same thing if you take a stephascope to the left side you will find the source most likely. I plan on having the valves and chain (cam) done and hopefully it will be gone. I 'm trying to sell this thing I'll let you guys know.
you could try and see if higher octane of gasoline helps' that would tell you that the previous owner was running it hard or a higher octane maybe even run some fuel injector cleaner, also would think about getting a valve adjustment done...
