starter valves

has anybody had problems with their starter valves or anything

ok i got my bike to kick over like it wanted to start by putting my fingers over thes holes on the throttle bodies does any body know about these

those are the buterflie valves they open when you gas up the throttle and letair in

what is a starter valve?

Think of balancing the carbs on an older 4cylinder bike, these do the same thing to fine tune the airflow between cylinders so they match. If they are way out of whack it can cause problems.If you think that is the source of your issues you'll need 4 vaccum gauges to hook up all at once and compare readings with the bike running. If your at a no-start problem again, you could try setting them to a default, but then you risk making things worse and will definitely need to balance them afterwords.
