Regulator problems!! help!!!
I recently purchased a 2000 929RR from a friend. he went over backwards doing a wheelie on it so i fixed eveything. one of the parts i had to replace was the stator and stator cover. i ordered a brand new stator and cover off of ebay. the bike ran great for almost 1000 mi. then it died and the battery was dead, so i pulled the ecu cover off and come to find that my stator plug had completely melted, along with one of the regulator plugs!!! would this happen to be that the regulator went bad or maybe something else. the bike has 24,000 on it. just seems weird that the regulator would go bad right after i fixed everything. And the place i got the stator from will not cover the 1 year warrenty so i'm gonna try and solder the old plug on the new wires for the stator... bad idea??? any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I opened up the stator cover and there's no noticable damage, however there are some very tiny marks on the inside of the rotor, the bolt on the end of the crankshaft has some road rash on it god i hope my cranks not bent!! **if the rotor and stator were just barely touching would that cause it to overcharge??** got a brand new RR and its at 18.9V at 5000rpm. supposed to be 14.4-15V thats why my plug melted in the first place... hopefully the rotor is just bent
