light problem
I had this problem once last year. I ended up blowing a fuse because I had some loose wires that contacted each other. I taped the wires up and replaced the fuse and everything was fine. My bike didn't have any lights just like yours.I don't remember which fuse but I do remember it was a 5. It happened at 3 a.m. and I had to go to Wal Mart to get the fuse.
I just had pretty much the same exact problem. (Never unplugged the headlight so I don't know if the dash lights would have came on if I did). Assuming that the fuses are good you should check the main harness that comes from the cluster on the right side. You have to take off the small cowl and you should see the biggest harness has a rubber boot over it. Mine must not have been making a good contact or something because when I started pulling it apart the lights came on. Once all of the wires were making good contact everything was working good for a while but then my headlight fuse kept blowing. So I am assuming that I had an underlying short in the harness which was probably the start of the problem. Because of the short I had to jump the headlight wire outside of the harness. Hopefully this helps you out....
