Intro and a question
Hi,
I would just like to introduce myself, my names Chris I'm 19, don't own a CBR yet, but really looking into buying one. The reason I am on the site is to ask a question for a guy I work with. He was wondering if there is anyway to remove the exhaust tuning valve. He said that there is something that opens this port up and he wants to remove it to just have a constant flow of exhaust gasses. I was just wondering if anyone has done this or if there is anyway to do this. Here is the picture of the port I am talking about that he wants to keep open.

Thanks,
Chris
IMG link doesn't seem to be working so here is a direct link to the picture.
Thanks again everyone,
Chris

yeah that valve is the HTEV and yes there are ways to eliminate it, but it may or may not benefit your friend to do it.
there are some people who have done it and say that it didn't help any and actuall makes their bike perform worse below 7k rpm.
a way to get rid of this is to get a 'HASS eliminator ' and I can't think of the web site but if you google it you can find it.
it basically turns your exhaust into a 4-2-1 all the time.
some people disassemble the valve and turn it around to make it stay open.
I wouldn't recommend any of these unless you or he has a powercommander to make the most of it other wise you won't get any benefit from this.
I recommend a full exhaust unless he already has a slip-on and doesn't want to waste his money but a powercommander is still needed!

he has an exhaust, some sort of chip, and I am trying to convince him to get cams and than get the whole thing tuned. He has it apart right now because of some motor repairs so the cams and all this is relatively simple to get done at this point. Not exactly sure what a flapper is, and he has a filter also.
Thanks for the help
