New member Intro and a Question
What's up all? I'm Joe from Monroe, NY. I just rescued a 600 F3 from a neighbor of mine. The bike needs lots of TLC and I'm definitely willing to make this my own. I attempted to crank the bike over by attaching jumper cables to my car and then the bike. All lights came on but the bike cranked extremely slowly. My car was running and I could hear the draw the F3 was putting on my car. This bike has been sitting for a year and a half and I'm guessing the carb floats could have caused excess fuel to leak into the motor. Going to pull the plugs and try again. Any other ideas??
PO said he rode the bike at low speeds and shifted through a few gears to make sure it was ok before he bought it. I trust his word.

if the bike has been sitting for a year - you need to at least drain the bowls. but you should really take the carbs off, apart, and clean them too. back when that bike came out - there was no ethanol.... so the lines are not made for ethanol-ized gas. that stuff can break down the interior of the fuel lines too. plus that gas is too old, so drain the old fuel out and get new fuel in there. have you peeked inside the tank with a flashlight to see what it looks like? living in NY, your bike is prone to a lot of fluctuations of temperatures.... it can cause condensation inside the fuel tank

Welcome to the CBR Forum Joe,
It does sound like fuel issues, but also be very cautious trying to start a bike from a running car, serious issues with the bikes regulator/rectifier of stator can result. This is a definite with the CBR1000F and I assume with other CBRs as well.
Good luck with the project.
Cheers, SB

Thanks for the tips guys. The bike was in a basement at a pretty constant temp. Also no rust in the tank. I am coming from a 2002 Ninja 250 and I do have a pretty good working knowledge of mechanical things.
I can't touch the bike for a few more days as I am out of town. Going crazy here!
