Default installing a hid kit

Ill be installing a hid kit on my 01 929 and I know the bulbs the bike takes are H7 bulbs but i need to know what kind of bulbs do I need for the highbeam bulbs wich are 2 and 1 low beam bulb. Ill be getting the 8000k set up and I know the low beam bulb is an H7 bulb but the two high beams is where im confused and also I need to know the wattage I should get? 35, or 55 is what im guessing but not sure which one exactly. Will one of you experience hid kit installers for the 929 give me some good advice?

The HID bulb will only be the low beam, they have to warm up so can't be turned on and off all the time like a high beam does. I'm not too familiar with the stock headlight other than the manual, but I believe you'll just be replacing your low beam with the H7 HID bulb and ballast, and use whatever bulbs you normally use for the highs. Your low might already stay on with the high beam, if it doesn't we'll talk wiring. I would get at least a 55w for the high bulbs, the more the merrier. I ran new wires and grounds to mine since the bike was already hacked up a bit. This summer I'm switching to the 105w bulbs I have in my 4Runner, it's like the sun rising when the highs are on.

Edit - After looking around a bit there are a lot of high/low HID bulbs on the market, I guess I've been out of the loop in lighting? On another note it seems our stock headlight is center low beam and two highs on each side, all H7.

Yeah, the other thing to check on bikes with lighting or heated gear is the stator output, a perfect example is my KLR650, it has a crap stock stator. It only puts out 85W at 8000rpm, so at idle if I add anything it will drain the battery. I found a nice 180W stator that puts out around 80W at idle. With that I can easily run my jacket in the winter and grips, as well as auxiliary lights. The only problem is that with bikes the stator can't make less wattage like the alternator in a car, all the extra goes away as heat from the rectifier. I've haven't heard of problems with the stock one on the KLR, but I'll probably run the extra lights all the time anyway to suck up some of that power. Other options are to switch the 35W taillight for <1W leds and spend 15W of that on grips to offset a bit. But my jacket on high sucks out 105W (65W low), but even around 10-15F I get too hot with the regulator on full blast. Kinda off track there but basically the 929 can handle a few add-ons without trouble. There is a 200W stator floating around, but I forget who makes it, with our rectifier issues I'd stay away.

I've installed the bulbs awhile ago but my bike sat for so long the battery died being that it was a battery made in 2002 so ill have to get another battery to test them but I'm sure they'll be nice I've just been getting all my Chrome parts in the mean time!
