Fuel Pump will not turn iteself off while bike is not running.
I have a 01 929RR it was running fine. All of a sudden when I turn the key on the fuel pump will not turn off like normal. It just stays running. I know the pump runs when you ride the bike but it should shut off when the bike is not running. I have already tried switching the pump itself. not sure if anyone has had this happen to them before.

RE: Fuel Pump will not turn iteself off while bike is not running.
Well, my brother, the shop manual isn't specific about the portion of the system that times the few seconds the pump is supposed to run when you first turn the key.
I believe the pump's few seconds of operation is cut on and off by the fuel cut relay, but the timing function may be controlled by the Electronic Control Module. I don't see any component in the system that watches fuel pump pressure, nor do I see any timer relays..... soooooo....
I gotta suspect one of two things - the ECM timing function isn't working (which I doubt), or the fuel cut relay's contacts are frozen shut.
When you shut the engine off, try doing it with the cut off switch on the right handlebar instead of the ignition key. When you do that, does the pump continue running even after the engine stops? If so, I would also expect you to get a raw fuel smell momentarily from the exhaust pipe (because you killed the engine by stopping the ignition, not from fuel starvation).
This would point to a stuck fuel relay.
Understand, I'm GUESSING here, based on what little I see in the manual. Hope it helps.
