I needed a new front tire because mine was junk..So i got a Bridgestone battle ax Bt 016. Because thats what i have for a rear tire and wanted them to match. Anyway you know how the tread on the tire kinda makes a V pattern that points towards the direction you are going? This is usually to displace water or whatever. Well yesterday i got my new tire mounted and swore that it was on backwards because the V pattern was faceing the oppisite way. Like when its on the bike the V pattern would be pointing towards the rider. So i begin to start and argument with the guy who put it on, but he points the the sidewall and says thats the way the rotation is ment to go...and he was right the arrow on the sidewall was pointing the oppisite way of the V pattern..Anyway my question..Is This normal? Ive never seen a tire with a tread pattern like that. Could it be a factory defect? My rear tire is also a bridgestone battle ax bt 016 but the V pattern on that points foward the way that you would think it should go. It just doesnt seem right to me but I dont want to put it on the other way and go against what the rotation arrow on the sidewall says...help??lol
Thanks

I can tell you this is normal, sport bike tires that I know are the same way as you described. There was a time I thought it was backward too.
What I can not tell you is why, I'm sure there is a good scientific reason behind it.
Pull up pics, you'll notice the front tire tread is this way.
