Smile cbr929 front fork upgrade/change

hi guys!

not sure if you can answer or not, i am getting a 2000 929 with heavy front end damage. IE needs from rad forward. so i am deciding to do a project / comversion to a street fighter. (ok, let the hate start lol). so i am wondering, can i fit later model forks and trees to the existing frame, or into the old trees? any help would be greatful.

Forks and triple trees from a 954 are a direct fit. Some of the 1k forks will fit the 929 triple tree but they are a little shorter which can affect the handling of the bike.

thanks BACKDOC! i read that the 1k would fit but depending on early or late you needed a 5 or 10mm spacer for the calipers. but then again, thats not important as i need the complete front end.
this is going to mainly used for city use, so if the steering is a bit quicker beling lower, might be an advantage.

Only reason I would switch to 1k forks would be the addition of radial brake calipers for the custom look. Not that you would see a big difference in braking power.
