Busted crank case
I have a 01 CBR929 that was stolen from me. When i got it back there was an issue with it. It came back with a cracked frame which I ordered a new one. I dont feel comfortable riding on a repaired frame and the stator cover was demolished. I just found out about 30 minutes ago when I went to remove the stator cover that there is a chuck missing out of the crank case. Its on the bottom and it is a part that meets with the cover and the gasket sits on. My question is has anyone ever successfully repaired anything like that without replacing the entire lower casing. I dont believe it holds compression but i know its where the oil is hence the gasket. I can replace it for about $139 but its the work involved in doing it that is going to be a pain. Not that I cant do it. I would just rather not if possible. Thank you all
I guess I'd have to wonder how big of chunk are we talking about? Pictures would be great. If it's a small chunk, then you might be able to fill it in with JBWeld or the like. If it's big, well then that $139 is looking really inexpensive. It is anyway, but if you're on a budget, then you do what you have to do.
