Got my used eBay R1 regulator in the mail today and it has some melted plastic around one of the terminals. I'm hoping this is nothing to worry about. I also got a new connector for the R1 regulator from Ricks.

I wired up my old regulator just for grins and amazingly it still charges... 14.48 volts @ 3,500 rpm. (engine was still cold, didn't want to go above 3,500 rpm) I'm still going with the R1 regulator since I have it and it was fairly cheap.

Also, I bought a weather proof 12 volt outlet that I plan to mount under the seat somewhere to charge my cell phone if I'm out riding and get a dead battery and need to use the phone. Is there any problems with this?

Now to buy a voltmeter to install....

It's on and charges well now! I eliminated the 3 wire connector under the seat also by soldering the wires from my new regulator connector directly to the stator wires.
