#3 is the base carb. All the other carbs are synced off of it. there is no adjustment for #3. We jetted and shimmed the carbs and man was this thing running like cr*p. rough, vibrate, back fire, popping and dead spot on accel. Be very patient when syncing them. Took me over 45 mins of messing around. got 1,2 set good then moved to 4 set it and it threw off 1,2 again....back and forth..back and forth. The result is worth the patience
p.s. jumpin jiminy this thing gets hot leaning over it runnig with your head stuffed in there to adjust..wear a sweat band

Well I synchronized the carbs and went up 1 on the jets because was on the lean side at 4000 rpm(I went up the road got to 4000rpm and shut the bike off). Lots of power now seems like a different bike now.

It takes patience, and lots of it. If you think stock CV's are bad, try a set of Keihin FCR's sometime LOL. Accelerate in 3rd to around 4K and snap throttle open. If bike pulls cleanly the needles are okay. Get them right before working on mains. If bike pulls clean, run it up to near redline and shut it off and check a plug. Slight brown/beige is what you're after. The "normal" looking color in most manuals is too rich. They like to run slightly on lean side. Glad you got it going.
