Default Test ride tomorrow

Well, I've been sick with the flu for about a week and havent ridden my bike for about 3 weeks, ever since the battery died on me in traffic

Tomorrow I take her to the eye doctor, a 6 mile ride.

Wish me luck that she doesnt die on me and I plan to keep riding after the eye doctors appointment for a few hours if my body holds up

Hopefully the bike will hold up too update later!

Thanks Duke and Dinez! Yes, I was dying these past few weeks [:@][:'(]

Well, here is the update, I rode it to my eye dr with no trouble

I made sure I kept the high beam off, because I suspect it helped drain my battery the last time.

After arriving at the drs office, I used my voltmeter to test the battery with the engine OFF.

It showed that the battery was charged but it was a weak charge.

I rode the bike around for about another hour after the dr appointment and again tested the battery with the engine OFF and again, it showed the battery was charged, but not completely.

Is this normal? [&o]

I also had to re-adjust my idle, because it was way too high, idling at around 2000 rpm!

I brought it down to 1500 rpm.

Check whether the battery is still in good condition. Charge it with external charger and see what's the output like. Anything less than suppose to be indicates your battery is not in good condition.
Anyway glad you didn't have to call a cab this time.

Yeah that can be normal considering how long you left you battery off the charge with it standing for three weeks. Hopefully after some nice long runs above 5000rpm , that should bring the spark into the battery again. But before that yeah do what dinez said, gotta check if your batt is good enough to hold the charge it got. If not, then im afraid its battery buying time again.

I don't know dude. I've been reading lots of dead stator, reg/rec threads this summer. Both of mine went outa month or so.Check your whole charging system just in case. If it's a reg/rec issue and it goes unchecked long enough you'll be out a bike more than a couple weeks.

Thanks Dinez, great advice.

I will do this sometime before my vacation ends. It is a very new battery, not even a month old.

Thank you Duke.

Homer hopes to do more high speed, high rpm runs very soon.

Tomorrow she goes to the Honda dealer for a checkup. They will inspect chain tension and see what my bike needs in terms of a new headlight (it only has one right now)

And I'll ask they check charging system.

Monkey i appreciate the links

Tomorrow the bike goes to the shop for a checkup.

I will ask them to test the charging system. I hope it is okay. But like you said, there might be something wrong with it.
