Default Tail swap on a 96 900RR

Looking to possibly do a tail swap this winter, not sure I really like the big rear on my bike. Just looking for suggestions on what rear would look best. Like the tails on the newer 1000RR's or something similar. I want to have a passenger seat on there, for the wife. Also looking for something fairly easy. Limited on my mechanical skills.

What have you guys done? Pics would be cool too. Thanks.

I have "heard" that 2002 gsxr1000 tails and subframes are a direct swap! Dont quote me, its just what I heard. I have a 97 900rr i just got a new tranny for and am going to restore this winter and I am thinking about this swap myself. I will do some research and get back to ya

Custom brackets are easy to make as long as you have the resources to do it in which you could do a tail swap to any that you desire

If you go through the search or look the through the photos there have been a few done. The one I like the best was GSXR tail swap but the 98 900rr looks really god also.
Through the reading of the GSXR swap it appeared that the guy did a fair amount of modification to get the correct angle to match the body line but I 've seen others(here) that did the same swap and mentioned nothing of the need of changing the body line angle.
I've also thought about doing something similar swaps but was concerned about having the back look too small. The early 2000 Gsxer's would probably give a good balance along with the 98 cbr900 tail as they both seem to be similar in size and shape.
If I can find the articles, I'll post the links.

I just did an 06/07 r1 tail on my 93. It lined up pretty well with the stock holes, but instead of brackets I decided to have it welded. If you like the R1 tail cbrrrt has a whole write up with pictures on his R1 tail on his 96 and he used brackets and even has diagrams of what he used. Here is his link.

I've seen a 916 tail on a 900RR. Looked pretty cool.

@ actionj how much did you get all the parts for? And where did you get them? I'm looking to do the same thing on a cbr 900rr I just bought.

Hitman, I have about $200 in the subframe, rear plastics and seats. I got everything on Ebay.
