Following in the footsteps of another CBR owner (Sime) I have just completed a custom tail swap on my 94 900RR.

It was a fun project, grafting a GSXR 1000 tail onto the blade. It makes the bike look much newer!

Looks good. What was involved with the project in terms of fabrication?

 

Modifying the subframe to accept the latch mechanism. Adding a loop on the back of the subframe for the seat cowl to hook into. Cutting off some of the front of the GSXR tail so it would fit under the seat and look right.

I also used a GSXR undertail/battery box, although in retrospect I don't think I needed to. So there was some mods necessary to mount the electronics neatly.

 

What year was the tail from?
