Default Project: Bring Back

The 900 has been at home a two weeks now. The engine is in working order, there are still things that need to be done, but it runs and drives. Right now the big rush is to get the lights on the bike so I can take it up and get it inspected so I can get it tagged. All the fasteners for the fairings were MIA, along w/ the mirrors. Along the process I found out that the rear tail section is a '98. I ordered some Emgo mirrors w/ the turn signals in them. I'm not for sure how it's going to look, but for 5 bucks, I picked up 2 mirrors and turn signals. I'm still trying to find parts on ebay and I think it's going to cost me my job. So far this isn't as bad as I expected it to be. Not really to much is done, and not to much to see, just waiting on the fasteners and parts toshow up right now.

Things that have been done to the bike:
New throttle sleeve.
Rattle can primer and flat blacked the body panels
Standard maintenance

What's the story behind the bike? Why is everything so rough? How much did you pick up the project for??

I picked it up from a guy that wasthis forum. Basically, it was a theft recovery. It's rough, because all the panels are different colors. I just bought a house and we have a new born, justhaven't picked out my air compressor yet. So for now, it'll be rattle can flat black. I picked it up for the same amount that I sold a well used '76 CB750. I'm not sure how much weekend time is left. This coming weekend, we're suppose to be driving to St. Louis to pick up a SV for the wife, IF she sells her Sporty by then. Guess we'll see...

I've been going though almost the same project on my 900. I bought this bike from a friendand it had alot of missing parts. The bike is a 94, the front is a 96 and the tail is a 98. The most dificult task was fixing the wires from scratch, but I finally started it last night and I really like it. My first bike was a 97 suzuki katana 750, but for some reason this bike has made me more exited to finish. I am painting it as I assemble it and it is really looking good. All I lack know is a good fuel tank and a 98 rear seat. Keep up the good work; it really looks good. Johnny

For me it's been two steps forward and one back. I'll have some of the pieces, but none of the brackets. Strap metal is turning into my new best friend. A little bit of paint does wonders on making it feel like your getting progress.

I haven't done a serious search yet, and my Clymer is in the mail, but did you find a electronic (jpg, pdf, gif)wiring diagram? The front end is a mess, somewhere along it's travels, it ended up w/ a owner whowasn't the best electrican. I'm seriously suprised the bike didn'tburn up. PM your ebay name and I'll try not to big against you

I know how you guys feel... I bought my '94 900rr about 4 months ago for dirt cheap and have been working on getting it back to its original glory ever since. Here are some pics of it from when I bought it... and yes that is an old f150 headlight on it. The guy I bought it from was a serious dumb *&%

I am in the process of paint preping... I will try to post some pics durring and after. Keep it up and eventually we will have some good looking bikes...

There's some good potential there.

F-150 head light? Hmmm, I'll have to keep that one stored, just because you never know when you have to Macgyver something.
