Default milage questions!

hey yall got a few questions.

1. on the 1996 CBR 900RR how many gallons does the gas tank hold

2. how many gallons are left when you are on reserve (as in your bike is about to die so you switch over to reserve). Im getting about 80-90 miles before i switch to reserve, but then i fill immedately never let it run out...just curious how much is in there.

3. how many miles are you guys getting?

Also i have flat slide carbs if that makes a difference

If i rember tonight and no one else has posted i will get you numbers from my manual at home. but 80 -90 miles then reserve? seems low. I have a 98 900rr and just rebuilt the carbs and i am at about 150 miles on my tank right now and i have not switched to my reserve yet...

4.76 gallons or 18 liters depending on where you are from for a 98-99. I would expect at 96-97 to be close to that. Probably 4.5 or so.

I do not think that flatslides should be consuming twice the fuel as CV carbs but I guess anything is possible. It depends on how hot they are jetted.
Hitting reserve at 90 miles in normal riding conditions is pretty extreme. I could roll 150+ commuting, carving miles before needing reserve.
Only at the track at full honk could I chew through gas in 80-90 miles.

what do you think the issue could be, some people on SBN were talking about valve cleaning, rejetting, etc. i dont want to deal with that. maybe it just seems like its about to run out of gas but it really isnt?

well if im idle itll start to drop from about 1.5 idle to 1 and going lower so i flip it, or if im riding i can feel it start to loose power, sometimes itll just stall out and i flip the switch and start it back up which has only happened 2 times.
