Default Lowering my bike

I have a 97 900rr. When I bought it I thought the kickstand was suppose to have an angle to it, but it doesn't. It really didn't bother me until I went to lower it about an inch and now it doesn't lean at all. My question is do I need to cut the kickstand or can I bend it out a little to adjust for the height of the bike

It would be best to shorten your kickstand. The previous owner of my bike had it lowered and had the kickstand shortened. It seemed to work well and had the correct lean. I believe he just cut a section out of it and welded the bottom plate back on. I am not positive though since I don't have it anymore. Raising it back to factory height was the very first thing I did to it and I sold all of the lowering links along with the stand. If you are not much of a welder, you can pick them up already modified on eBay. Here is a chrome one for $85.
