JE pistons and Carrillo Rods??
Just pulled my buddy's engine apart after it chewed up a big end con rod bearing, and found JE pistons inside, and what I believe are Carrillo rods. Did Honda use JE pistons, or are they aftermarket? The rods I'm sure are aftermarket, as all the Fiche's online I find show a stud and nut setup for the cap, these have a 12 pt 10mm machined bolt instead. They are also stamped CARR with a four digit number afterwards. If I'm wrong about that, please tell me. The previous owner (who knew the engine was bad) told us it was a '98 and had race cams in it. I can't tell race from factory cams, so any ideas as to tell what kind of cams they are? Our plan is to part this motor out to come up with enough cash to purchase another one that hasn't been messed with as much, so if any of these parts sound like something you'd like to have, lemme know, or if you've got a running motor for sale, also please let me know. The bike is a 95, the engine is a ?? (one stealership said it's a 98, other one said the serial isn't a Honda number) but I know it's a 919. Thanks in advance for the help.
