Intermittent total power failure. Help !
Hello chaps !
My 96 900rr has a problem.
The power fails completely, everything goes out, then turn the key off and on and sometimes it's fine, sometimes not, sometimes the clocks come back on but then when you press the starter button or even activate the kill switch, move the headlight switch and it all goes off again ! and then it all works fine until the next time.
It does this while I'm riding along too which is not good I'm sure you'll agree !
I have already replaced the battery, Reg.Rec and stator recently as it was not charging enough - was showing a steady 12v but now showing 12.6-13.9v while running/riding.
I am assuming due to the nature of the fault that it is a wiring / earth problem ? Thinking of handlebar switches both sides, block connectors throughout the loom etc. ?
The clocks have been replaced with digi ones and the loom is generally stuffed in under the tank as it has flat bar streetfighter conversion.
Any ideas appreciated
Andy

had a similar problem once, ended up being the main ignition wire coming from the handlebar switch had gotten caught up in something with the steering/triple and broken the wire slightly. wasn't broken all the way, just enough so when i would turn the bars either left or right (don't remember) it would pull that wire and the whole bike would cut out.
