Normal...............dont lose any sleep over it........all bikes do that.......it's pulling the drive line slack out.....some do it worse than others, but they all do it.
Good question mine does it as well a friend told me the same thing gixxereater said. To reduce the noise i just changed my shifting habits from 1st -2nd at 4k rpm and from 2nd -1st at 3k rpm or so.
One thing you can do is lower your idle. That will reduce the noise. Also, revving the engine while the changing gears can also cause the loud and often ugly sound. But ride on, its all good.
