Going to start bike for first time!!!!!!!!
I am gonna start the bike. This will be the first time since I actually owned it. Is there anything that I should check or be aware of before I start her? What noises should I listen for once I do start it? Anything would be helpful. THANKS

Did you just buy it or just put it back together, or something?
If you just bought it, Check the oil and coolant levels and make sure it has fresh gas in it before starting it up. Get a flashlight and look around the motor, while it is running. Look for leaks and stuff.
If you just put it back together, start it with the fairings (mid and lower) off. Do everything state above, and double check everything (bolts, hoses, wires) first.
Either way, when it's running, try not to rev it. Let it warm up and idle for a little bit, first.
This is what I did after putting my 900RR back together and starting it for the first time.
Good luck.

thanks for your input there X but, your post was of no real help to me. My "sig" was just a passing thought when I was registering this account. Yes, you are right, I am new to bikes. I do appreciate your input about the gear. I will be sure to wear it all the time. Now, If you have any input about the post topic, I would appreciate it. If not, I am sure that there are other people much worse off than I am that could use your pestering.
Alright you two...
If you have not started it before, like if it is "new-to-you", just pull the choke lever up, all the way and push the start button. With mine, I did not have to give it any throttle. Once it starts and idles for a minute or so and starts to get warm, you should be able to push the choke lever back in. It should idle on it own (without the choke on) after that. If it has been sitting for a while, you may have to fiddle with the throttle or idle adjustment **** a little bit. Once it's warm (aside from any carb or other problems), it should be ready to ride (make sure you wear your gear).
If it makes any knocking noises, leaks, or smokes, shut it off and seek mechanical help.
I hope this answered your question.

Thanks Puzzle. I started the bike and it seems to be doing fine. I am now working on the cosmetics. I am curently sanding all the plastics. (have not decided what color to paint it though) Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking a flat black would look pretty good!!!!
Flat Black would be easy to paint over, if you got sick of it, and you could do it with spray cans. Seems to be pretty popular right now.
I'm just going to repair the damaged panels on mine, spray can them to "as close as possible" the original colors, and ride the damn thing.
Eventually I would like to do a professional, metallic or solid red, like the factory color. I like the original paint schemes.
Post up some pictures when you get it together.
