Lesson learned, It is impossible to remember everything. Especially every bolt. In the future, take photos while you are stripping down your bike for maintenance/repair. This will help you recall if you do forget. Just a thought bro...

My 99 has one large ( gas ) & one small ( vacuum ) that connects to i believe #2 cylinder as my petcock is vacuum operated, i would imagine yours being a 98 would b the same

i recomend putting the drain hose on for sure though, i had a mauraduer and i was looking in the tank and shaking the bike a little to see how much gas i had and apparently a little of it went in that drain hole and on top of my motor, shut the lid put the key in hit the ignition and smoke started rolling out caught the top of my jugs on fire. it melted the throttle cable to the motor. it was a nightmare so i learned my lesson, that hose is there for a reason!!
