Ok just dropped the engine from the bike to redo the rings and bearings.
When i pulled the tank i notice the air box had been hacked into and a third air pipe added to it.
Does anyone know why? maybe this is something i havent heard off to increase air flow for some reason?
Any opinions are welcome as i decide whether to put it back as is or buy another air box with just the two intakes

where was the giant tube connected to and I would say its okay to remove it if you can find a way to patch that hole. or just buy a new one

 

the giant tube was tucked through the frame at the head stock and ran into the left side inner fairing.
i went onto ebay and bought another but i was really just curious if this was some strange performance mod i'd never heard of

 

you are right it is its called dumbpreviousowner.... its adds 10hp

and good choice on buying a replacement

 

It sounds like the previous owner tried to build a makeshift ram air tube...which will not work on that airbox. Good call on replacing it with the correct one.
