Default How quickly a winter project go's to hell

OK so my winter project was to strip down the engine do rings, bearings and valve seals amongst other things. no big deal i thought

Engine out bike no big hassle

engine on the floor ready to get set up on the bench........ letting the strip down begin.

and the project grinds to a shuddering halt.

cylinder no4 heavily pitted and scored just above the start of the bdc cylinder stroke.

so resleeve or try and find a replacement case with good cylinders? Or replace it with a 919.......... what would you do??

i would try and sleeve it and get it running good before you try to get rid of it. just so you know your passing on a bike in good running condition... then get a 954... thats what I would do or try to part it out (could take a long time, I dont know many people looking for 900 parts) and get the money to get another bike. you have a couple options just please dont pass it on the way it is.

but its your call your bike i have had many setbacks on my winter project but I worked through it and so can you. good luck and god speed let us know what you decide

oh hell i wont sell in any condition.

this is one of those bikes you like enough to keep ( for me anyways). i havent found a modern sports bike that feels the same as the blade. sure there are some new bikes that are better in there own way but their not my blade.

so if anyone hears of a reasonably priced set of cases or a 919 engine let me know.

If I were you I would look at the cost of each option, taking into account the benefits and drawbacks of each.

For example, a benefit of the re-sleeve is you will have a fresh motor that you know will last. A drawback might be the price involved.

At any rate, let us know how the project progresses!

Found a 929 motor for $600...

Or a 954 motor for $500, but looks like it needs some transmission work...
