If you can't beat him, somethings wrong. He'll have a good bit of grunt off the line but as soon as you get the revs up, he'll be falling behind. My son had an SV650 and my 1000F would do it to him often - hell I even did it to a 916 Ducati when I was really trying one day.... (so was he) hehe

If you're doing your part, an SV650 won't be a problem. (as long as you can ride and you don't weigh 400lbs... )

900RR: 130hp, 68 ft-lbs, 183kg dry

SV650: 70hp, 46 ft-lbs, 169kg dry

You do the math . . . and maybe show the kid these figures and ask him if he understands how much of an *** he is. I'm pretty sure my F1 would have the edge over an SV650 in a drag race.

I actually HAVE an '03 SV650 & an SV650S in the garage, and they're dogs compared to my '07 RR, so I'd say there's a pretty sure bet your 900 could smoke them, stock. I don't think you can get a better answer than that, and red_eye's numbers up there.

Ha ha....

The Blade will TOTALLY smoke the SV ! The SV puts out about 70 hp yours will at least be 110+, On the track you'll play with the SV all day long like a mouse !! The SV is a budget commuter bike and even when raced is NOT a missile.........
