Question Battery issues

Ok so with the bike I bought a few weeks ago, im having some battery issues. The original battery was dead. Didn't take a charge. So I got another one. Worked wonderfully. Had an issue with the regulator, so I re-wired the connection. Now is working ok. As of yesterday when I tried to start the bike for work, it wouldn't turn over. Seems like battery is dying. I know the wires go from the regulator to the alternator, but not sure if it has to be hooked up a certain way or not. Or if it's my alternator going bad. Any help would be awesome.

Update. It worked earlier today. Let run for 15min. Than tried again when I tried to get to work, and it did the same thing. It started to turn over, than stopped. Also, when I was coming home, as I accelerated, my headlight got bright. As I slowed or was at idle, the light was dimmed. Not sure what's going on.

Didn't know 900 had a charging problem. Hmm. Regulator was not bolted on. It fell off and blew the fuse. Got it bolted and needed to rewire. Manual doesn't say how the alternater cables need to b in specific order or not.

Being as u just got the bike... I'll let u slide.... 92-99's r notorious for charging probs... U have long enuff u'll find out! I believe stator wires can b in any order to reg.. Quick chk.. Start bike chk voltage at battery should b 13.5 to 15 @ 5000 rpm. I usually get between 13.8-14.2

Alright, so I cleaned out my starter. It was pretty dirty with junk. So I cleaned it all up, got the corrosion off, and put it back together. Had to pop the clutch again to get it to work. Went for a 15min ride. Now it starts up just fine with the starter. Now just going to wait a few hours and see if it starts right up again or not.
