Default Upgrade F4I to 600RR

I was wanting a newer 05+ RR but cam across a great deal on a 03. Here are my questions. First ya i knew befor i bought it my *** would be hot, but i wanted to know what type of heat tape works well? Second i would like to upgrade the forks, which ones work the best? I like endos I can roll the bike but not far but I also like the twists. so which set of forks will work the best? Third is a power commander i never got one for the F4I but wanted to know what to expect from one, and which ones work the best? Finally are plastics the set that came on them are the typical red and black ones there in great condition i was wanting to try and sell them and get other OEM ones or a set off E-Bay but i dont wanna get crappy Hong Kong ones, so if some one has purchased a GOOD set from some where id like to know.

I bought an 03 myself and I got lucky all the plastic are good on it also but I am upgrading the upper to an 06 front. I've done my research and the only difference is the windvisor and the airducts, the headlight should be the same. I do my own custom paint so I am going orange on the paint. I got the swingarm powder coated and just sent off my frame and engine covers to get powdercoated black. The only thing I lack is a good engine, I was going to rebuilt the one in it but the engine case has a hole in it. I hope to have this finished by march, I will post pics then. Johnny

Not sure on the forks, I know for 05-06 they work great and just need the internals upgraded for heavier riders. I know the suspension is different on the 03-04 but I can't remember what is different. I'd look into upgrading internals before spending money on all new forks... The power commander will add some low end grunt and just a dab more on the top end, hardly noticable. From what I've read on 600rr.net, there are NO plastics with the same fit and finish as the oem ones, but there are some that come close. Usually with all after market plastics you will have alignment issues so be ready for that...

My *** never gets hot on mine even with after market exhaust with no heat shielding. Can't vouch for passenger rumps though, but can say never heard a complaint!
