Default Track guys - Coming down from the wheelie

Heya folks, just wondering out there to you track guys, and street riders, when you're coming down from that beautiful power wheelie right after you come around a bend and hit "that" straight away, have you ever had the tire turn a little (and I mean slightly no more than 3 degrees) to the right? I never had a wobble, or a "tank slapper" on the track, and I'm sure I have HESD to thank for that, but I'm guessing this just happens from when you roll on the throttle and you put a little more weight on the right handlebar it tends to tilt, but it was windy today too so that may have been somewhat of a factor... anyways my question is, will this bend my forks in the front/ or mess up my alignment?? This happened a few times today while I was out there, like roughly 2-3 times. Seals look fine, forks look fine no dirty rings, just wondering if this slightly angled landing will bend anything in the front? As always, thanks in advance guys.

I highly doubt it ... I've come down pretty hard from wheelies before and never had a single problem with my forks or alignment ... the only bike i've ever had a problem with anything like that was my very first bike when i wrecked it .... bent the front axle and threw off my alignment ... so if that's what it takes to mess up something like that, then I'd say your power wheelie landings are probably no sweat for your bike ... relax and ride man ... lol

Lol ... just keep tearin up the track man ! ... these bikes are tougher than you'd think .... just look at what the motogp bikes go through ... they're practically the same bike as your RR (really just minus the emissions equipment, blinkers, and mirrors) ...

Ok first of all, every time to hit the brakes really hard, your forks bend anyway, its a fac of life. not a great deal, but a little bit. they are built to withstand such treatment within their tolerances.

Secondly, no, what you described wont hurt anything. Do a youtube search (doesnt HAVE to be bikes) for slow motions videos of tyre distortion. Youd be AMAZED at how much tyres twist bend and stretch. When you come down, and the front is a little crossed up, the tyre takes the majority of the punishment. I know what youre talking about, I ride a 2001 R1 now, without a steering damper, and those bars have a mind of their own at times!

Lastly, and this is just as an aside, when coming down form your wheelies, dont let it just drop down, doing so can screw your fork seals, and isnt great for yur springs either. As the front is coming down, gives the gas a good squirt. This will transfer weight to the rear of the bike, and assist in allowing the front end to come to a nice, delicate controlled return to the ground, without slamming.

Hope that helps!

p.s. got pics of your cbr powering it up? please?

@tigertim20 - Great information there man, thanks a bunch for taking the time to write it out! At this time, I do not have any good photos of any power ups. I am saving money to buy the GoPro HD Hero cam so I can get some good footage of riding. When I get some good videos/photos up, I'll link it to you in a PM. Thanks again guy,
