Tire Situation Please Help
I am looking to get a new tire. I have 2300 miles on it and i believe previous owner had the original tires still on because it has low miles. Anyhow its a 2006 cbr 600 and i just picked it up. The back is sort of flat or squared off. Anyways here is my question.
With 2300 miles do i need to replace the front as well. Is it worth it, it does not look to bad to me.
Will it matter having a harder compund front tire and now thinking of moving to a mich 2ct rear which is a softer tire matter.
Also what is the break in process of a new tire. Will i be slipping all over.

Save yourself the hassle or wonderment, and replace both front and rear. Some say you should never have mismatched tires but I've done it before to get by for a while till I can afford it. But at the price of Pilot powers there's not much of an excuse to just not buy both.
If your looking for a resonable place try here~~>www.sportbiketrackgear.com Set of front and rear 2ct for 220 bucks. I personally run the just PP and there like 197 bucks a set

Just be easy on the new one for a few miles. The tires will come with a wax like coating. Nothing crazy for the first 100 miles or so to be safe. I did some side to side weaving to get it off of the sides of the tire too to make sure I was all set up for the twisties. You'll love the Michelins. I do.

if you take the rim off of the bike, and then bring it to the shop, it won't be $80 a tire. They're charging you that because they need to take off the rear, separate the chain, take off the front, then mount and balance.. you get the picture. So if you want to cut that bill in half, maybe more, i suggest you take off the front and rear wheels, throw them in your cage, and drive to the shop. and Michelin FTW.

Besides matching tires, I'd replace the front just because I wouldn't trust it being perfectly round. If the rear has developed a visible flat spot, the front has been getting there, too.
For that mount and balance price, you could just about ship them to one of the shops here to have it done. At least two shops around here only charge $22.50 if you bring the wheel in. At least one of them does it free if you bring the wheel in and buy the tire from them.

thanks for the quick responses guys. I tried posting this in a new thread but never got a answer really. I no this is off topic but i need a front stand for a 2006 cbr 6000. I love the vortex one i have in the rear. For the front i am looking at the kind that hooks under the stem so i can work on forks and wheel easier. I was looking at the vortex one and alot of people just say pitbull. Is the vortex still a good stand, i have read some good reviews about them.
In the long run for winter storage will the front stem or fork lift kind be better.
Sry to post in this thread but you guys are helping alot. Thanks
