Slight Rattling/Ticking. 2007-08 Model
Hey guys, I realize there are a bunch of posts on the forums talking about some form of rattling or ticking in one shape or another. So I'm hearing asking the community if it's normal to be hearing some type of slight face paced ticking/rattling from the bike. Specifically on the right side heelguard area. This is for the 2007-2008 CBR600RR models btw
And a question I'll go ahead and ask for any possible future noobies like myself is, How can you tell if a ticking/rattling noise is abnormal, or normal?
Thanks in advance for your answers guys!

If it's a really light, "high pitched" tick, it's normal. It's just the valvetrain/injectors doing their job. Your car does it to, you just can't hear it because it's covered in various types of metal
Being that our bikes are covered in plastic, you hear everything. You'll hear the chain ticking around, sometimes you'll hear the clutch engage if you drop it too hard, you'll hear the CCT if it's bad, and you hear the motor tick. If you hear a KNOCK or a PING, you'll know it.
But, a fast-paced tick is completely normal. I'm not sure how to explain it to you. If the tick gets louder to the point that you can hear it over your exhaust or other various motor sounds, then you should be worried. Are you just hearing it at idle?

Wow alot of informative data there, thank you so far. And yes mainly at idle, I can't say I can hear it over the engine exhaust. Also I upgraded from an 07' Nin250r, so she is my first 6. I think the anxiety of wanting to take such good care of the bike has caused some slight "paranoia" issues, but I'm starting to see that's all normal for a new CBR6 rider lol

I have to agree, i hear it out of mine also, run the **** out of it for 6500 miles still sounds the same, nothing to worry about unless its knocking loud and filling with metal shavings.
Mine is more pronounced when the engine is cold, sounds like typical cold forged piston rattle to me. Although sometimes my ears pick up what i thought might have been a rod knock at certain RPMs but it hasnt changed in the last couple years of abuse.
