Default Slight ticking

I haven't got this bike yet but I probably am tonight. It is a 96 cbr600 with 16k miles. He said he was riding home the other night when the bike started bogging down so he pulled over and shut it off.

He said he restarted it a few min later and it ran ok and he made it home. Said the next morning he started it and it sounds like a sewing machine now.

Guy I know told me it sounded like he ran it low on oil but I honestly don't know. The guy claims it has plenty of oil in it.

He wants 1000$ for the bike and it is in amazing shape. It has never been down and everything is very very very clean.

He said someone told him it sounded like a wrist pin but I have no idea. How much would it cost to get a bike engine rebuilt? Anyplace sell kits?

Also I was wondering of F4 motors would work? Obviously the FI would need to be taken off but I was wondering if the bottom end is the same. Probably isn't but I thought it was worth a shot.

sounds like the cam chain tensioner... 50 dollar part.. easily put it on yourself if you have some mechanical background(ie change oil)

also... the f3 is infamous for the CCT going bad and the Regulator/rectifier.. i myself have 17k miles on my bike and recently changed the cct about 2k miles ago..

Ok it wasn't a f3...its a 93 f2 with 27k. The fuel selector broke and it died on him because its getting no fuel. Said it was ticking when he got it home on his truck. Then it stopped running and he cannot get fuel threw the selector valve....I cant decide if I want to get it or not. Decisions decisions.

Tell him you want it either checked out to see wots wrong with it, or running properly before you part with the $$$$"s.
It's going to be no bargain if you gotta spend bucks on it, maybe come to arrangement re; cost of repair vs price of the bike. If not, walk away, CBR's have been the one of the best selling bikes for over a decade (for good reason) so your going to find another one out there.
