Is this a scam?
Jeeze it sounds like such a hassle. Who is the person picking up the bike? Does sthe guy really even live in the U.K. or does he only pretend to and then comes and picks up the bike? Maybe he just legitly has someone ship it for him? wtf?
A lot of people overseas would love to buy their bike from here because it is so much cheaper. I have a friend from the Netherlands who bought an 04 R1 brand new from inside his country. When all was said and done it cost him close to $25000 which is absolutely ridiculous.
Maybe, but that email isnt for real. Its the same universal one you get from everyone. List something on ebay like this, and you get the same response. Its a crock. It may be real it it were something a little more formal, but this is a straight, to the point, I want your bike, blah blah. Usually people ask about the bike, etc etc before something bout buying it comes into play.
haha yeah that's pretty much exactly how it was. His first e-mail asked me the price and the condition after saying "I am interested on purchasing your item." I'm like, my item? If you were some guy about to buy a new bike you wouldnt call it an "item". So I replied to him saying "Your e-mail sounds pretty fishy. In every single classified ad I've put outI listed the price and conditionso why are you asking?"
usually they claim the "client" will have a check for you over the cost of what they are buying. you just send them the differance and get screwed3 times ...1st your bike , 2nd the amount of your bike you sold it for, then 3rd the money you sent them on top of it.
this scam is so old I can't belive people fall for it
