Default RE: Pay for the extended warranty?

Yep. I have the 4-year extended warranty too. Cost me $620.00 from my dealer. I bought it about a month before my factory warranty expired (so I have the closest to a 5-year warranty that you can get).

I figure five years is a LONG time for any vehicle, especially a bike. SOMETHING will go wrong with it within 5 years. How many times did you have to get a car fixed after the 3-year warranty expired? My point exactly. Plus, I ride my bike everywhere for everything, so to me, it made sense.

It's paid for itself, plus some already. I have had the headlamp switch replaced under the extended warranty (would have cost me $190.00 otherwise) And had to have the starter replaced again (would have cost me over $500 for that.) Not to mention the melted gauge face that they're going to replace for me at the end of December as well.

WELL worth it in my opinion.

I figure, if something bad is going to happen like that... it will be in the first year. Which is Warranted. Anyway, everyone has their own piece of mind. Mine is that I didn't pay for it. :-)

Not a bad deal .I payed 430.00 for my extra 4 years.. As far as reliable yep our bikes are..BUT anything can happen esp with electronics,wiring,engine..Seen it happen .. I think of the extend warrenty as piece of mind..
Example electonics on our bikes are like light bulbs in your house..It may work forever or blow as soon as you turn it on...

As far as records i keep a folder on my bike and everything i do.So if there is a issue i have everything there to show the dealer.

GUess you have never owned a new car..I work on one of the best car lines out there(toyota)..Its amazing on the things i see that "shouldnt" go bad but do..Same theory applies to our bikes.

FOr some they wont need it because they put very little miles on their bike..FOr me its worth it..Hell i average 100+ miles daily on mine (except when it rains)..

i paid alot more for mine, but it covers alot more. mine covers the 1st 4 services, tires for the duration of the warranty, and extends it and extra 4 yrs. the tires get replaced if there is damage. i asked about normal wear and tear and he said no. i jokingly said so when my tires run out ill just bang a nail in them and they will be raplaced. he said actually you could do that.
LOL! Yeah, the dealer in town offered me the same thing for $500 plus the cost of tires. If I would have had the money, I would have done it and got me a new set of tires every couple months.

"Honestly, my driveway is made of nails.........I swear!"

Hey, i'm buying a new '07 600rr this week and want to know what your opinions are on the extended warranty. Do all of you go with the extended warranty? Has anyone actually had mechanical problems beyond the 1st year included warranty and needed the extra years? Last but not least, does $660 sound reasonable for the price of the extra 4 yrs? Thanks.
I bought it, I financed so it worked out to peanuts on top of the payment. I look at it two ways, one for extended coverage (your buying a 1st generation of a redesign) things always need adjusting, or replacement, also think of the resale, these are transferable.Does that mean you can ask more when you sell it?(granted if selling withing the term, trust me something new and better will bite ya in four years) No you can't ask more, but it sets your bike apart from the rest that are for sale, and makes it more attractive to the respective buyer. It's almost like your offering a nice comforting "reach around" on pick up day.... haha
